Android O Dev Preview 2 shows swapping of WiFi and cellular icons

19 May 2017 5

Android O is currently in its Developer Preview 2 stage, also Google has released the first Beta of their newest Android version to the users. Being in the developer stage means the OS is bound to receive a few tweaks which may further get changed anytime. One such tweak can be seen in the status bar.

Android O preview swaps the cellular and WiFi indicators around the status bar and this looks quite weird. Why there’s a need for the same?

What’s going on is unpredictable at the moment, of course. But, we really don’t want to see it in the final version of the Android O which will be ready for the users by the end of this summer.

There’s one more noticeable thing here if you disable WiFi, the grayed out icon stays in the status bar. It’s just taking up space for no reason. Again there doesn’t seem to be any need of it, probably this is just a bug at the server side for now. We believe, at least, this isn’t going to be the part of the final release of Android O.

A few hours ago, Google provided a new update to the Developer Preview 2 and this update fixes the Android Pay bug. However, not every compatible device is able to install this update.
