UPDATE: JULY 5, 2017
Sony has finally started rolling out Android Nougat 7.0 update to Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra after the OTA glitch it faced last month with new build numbers compared to the previous firmware version. Note that it's Android 7.0 and not 7.1.1.
Sony Xperia XA owners should see the build number 33.3.A.0.131 (versus 33.3.A.0.127 previously) and Xperia XA Ultra should see the build number 36.1.A.0.182 (versus 36.1.A.0.179 previously) when the new update hits their devices.
ORIGINAL POST
Japanese multinational company Sony recently started to roll out the OTA (over-the-air) update for Sony Xperia XA and XA Ultra. Though shortly afterward, the update was put on hold as there were some temporary issues with the system that delivers OTA update.
In a statement that the company released mentioning the issue, they shared that the OTA would restart ‘as soon as possible.’ Previously the company released an OTA update for Xperia XA back in February that brought in the firmware version 33.2.X.4.70.
The company mentioned that the issue with the OTA would not affect the device that was not able to process the update successfully. The update would re-commence again as soon as the issue gets resolved.
Sony issued a statement as below:
We’ve temporarily paused the Android 7.0 upgrade for Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra due to minor performance inconsistencies related to the over-the-air delivery system. Regardless of whether a user has been able to successfully run the upgrade or not, there is no detrimental impact on device performance or loss of existing user data. We’re aiming to re-commence the rollout as soon as possible with a seamless upgrade experience for all users, and will provide a further update in due course.
