Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 leaks with SD 630, 16MP camera, 3,790 mAh battery

05 July 2017 3

After the huge success of Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi now seems to look forward to working for the successor of the device, the Redmi Note 5. According to a new report, the specifications of the Redmi Note 5 have now been leaked on the web, suggesting that it might be a mid-range device, just like the predecessor. The report also suggests that the Redmi Note 5 will come preloaded with the MIUI 9 software on top of Android Nougat OS and a price tag of around $200.

The leak report suggests that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, a chipset that was unveiled in May this year. The device will arrive in two memory variants – 3GB RAM / 32GB storage and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage, thus overpowering the Redmi Note 4 which has a 2GB RAM variant. The Adreno 508 GPU will handle the graphics processing on the handset with a 5.5-inch FullHD (1080 x 1920 pixel) IPS LCD display.

In the camera department, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to pack a 16-megpixel primary camera with a f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash. The front-facing camera is expected to be a 13-megapixel snapper. Unlike the previous Redmi and Xiaomi smartphones, the Redmi Note 5 will reportedly be the first device by the company to sport a fingerprint scanner on the front of the device, just below the display. Connectivity options will include VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C 3.1. The device is expected to be fueled by a 3,790 mAh battery, which is quite lower that the 4,100 mAh one which we saw on the Redmi Note 4. The battery will also support Quick Charge 4.0, which will help it charge faster.
