Lenovo has shown off its flexible Lenovo Folio concept at the Lenovo Tech World 2017 event.
The foldable device has a screen which can expand from 5.5 inches to 7.8 inches. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Xiao Long 800 processor and has a 4.2 mm fold radius. Lenovo Folio has a narrow bezel bonding technology. The foldable tablet has a large battery which gives a longer battery life.
The Lenovo Folio has an e-SIM and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. Lenovo often releases both Windows and Android versions of their devices, so the new foldable device could also come in a Windows 10 variant.
This is the second year Lenovo has shown off its flexible tablet. Last year, during the Lenovo Tech World 2016 event, YouTuber Meghan McCarthy had displayed a bendable phone that could be folded and worn around the wrist. While presenting she folded the device in a phablet, and put up to her ear in order to simulate a phone call.
This is twice that the Lenovo Folio has been showcased by the company at the Tech event, by next year Lenovo may be ready for mass production. Samsung, Microsoft, LG and Lenovo have all been working on foldable tablet/phablet concepts. We will have to wait and watch which of these companies will win the race to launch the first foldable device!
