We already compared the latest V30 against the Samsung's latest Galaxy Note 8. The device is powerful enough to give tough competition to Samy's latest premium smartphone but whether it is capable to challenge the year older Cupertino giant's premium smartphone or not. Although iPhone 7 Plus successor announcement is just around the corner but still the device is one of the best phablet available in the market. 77.9 x 158.2 x 7.3 mm
5.5 inches - 1920x1080 px
No matter what how well the device has features internally if it doesn't look beautiful externally no one would like to purchase. The Design is one of the most important factor buyers consider while making a purchase. Apple iPhone 7 Plus is appreciated because of its solid metal chassis sleek design and it remained one of the most luring design. However, the trend shifted drastically in 2017 when Smartphone manufacturers start bringing bezel-less smartphones where the users have more space to play with because of almost all display on the front facing side. That is why the iPhone 7 Plus looks a bit dated in front of the latest bezel-less flagships.
The iPhone 7 Plus rear side is adorned with protruding dual rear cameras, the fingerprint scanner Aka TouchID is on the front facing side below the display. The device is IP67 certified which means it can survive under water of 1 meter for 30 minutes without any damage.
LG adopted the latest trend for their 2017 flagships that's why the V30 also features all front facing display with trimmed bezels like the G6. The V30's rear side is adorned with a dual rear camera setup with dual LED flashlight. The dual sensors are also protruding but much less than iPhone 7 Plus. The device is IP68 certified which brings protection against water up to 1.5 meters. Both the iPhone 7 Plus and LG V30 can easily survive accidental drops in water. The V30 looks more modern in terms of design as opposed to iPhone 7 Plus.
The iPhone 7 Plus lacks traditional 3.5mm headphone jack but instead, it comes with a Type-C Connector. The LG V30 features 3.5mm headphone jack as well as USB Type-C connector. Both the devices are equally good in durability. The overall footprint of V30 isn't bulkier at all like Apple iPhone 7 Plus. Now it is personal preference either you adopt an all metal chassis with thick bezels or a MIL-STD-810G protection metal chassis with all front facing display. In our view, the V30 takes lead in the desing department. It won't look dated till its successor.
The V30 is the LG's second smartphone which features the display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. That is why its 6-inches display doesn't look gigantic at all but instead, it easily fits in your palm. For the first time, LG adopted an OLED display panel for their flagship smartphones which means its contrast ratio and deep blacks will be much better than LCD display panel of iPhone 7 Plus. The V30 screen resolution is 1440 x 2880 pixels.
The iPhone 7 Plus is featuring a 5.5-inches LCD display panel. The display aspect ratio is traditional 16:9. Its LCD display screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels. The V30's display is better in all aspects including display size, screen resolution, better display panel. The upcoming iPhone 8 is expected to be Apple's first smartphone with bezel-less design and the better display panel.
Like its predecessors, the V30 is featuring a secondary display as well. This year it isn't placed on the top of the display but instead, it's a floating bar on the bottom edge which can be used to access certain apps on the go. Users are allowed to customise according to their preference.
Being the latest flagship, the LG V30 is powered up by the Qualcomm's latest and greatest Snapdragon 835 Processor. The Octa-core SoC is accompanied with 4GB RAM. It is the same hardware you will find on the Galaxy S8's US variant. The Apple' A10 Fusion Chipset still takes lead on single-core benchmark tests and still it is on par and in some cases better than Android smartphones running on Snapdragon 835. The iPhone 7 Plus A10 Fusion chipset is accompanied with 3GB RAM. Despite having less RAM and aging, it performs pretty great.
The iPhone 7 Plus is available in three memory configurations including 32GB, 64GB, and 256GB. However, it isn't expandable using MicroSD card. The LG V30's base variant built-in storage is 64GB which is expandable using MicroSD card. There is a top of line variant with 128GB storage, however, this variant will be exclusively available in few regions.

Apple iPhones are always known for their top notch cameras, same is the case with the iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus is pretty special for Apple because of its dual rear camera setup. LG also paid special attention to the cameras of their V lineup, the V30 is also packed with dual snappers on the rear side.
The V30 primary lens is 16MP sensor whereas the secondary wide-angle 13MP sensor. LG opted a wide-angle lens instead of the telephoto lens. The capturing capabilities of V30 are pretty excellent. The primary sensor aperture size is f/1.6 with a field of view of 70 degrees. The secondary wide-angle lens field of view is 120-degrees with f/1.9 aperture. Unfortunately, the V30's wide-angle sensor doesn't have OIS.
Thanks to f/1.6 aperture it captures more light and performs pretty great in low-light conditions. Up front, the selfie-capturer is the 5MP sensor which features iris scanner as well. The V30's rear camera setup performs pretty great in capturing videos. It features a Cine Mode which brings a number of filters which can be applied before capturing videos with Cine Effects. The device brings a Point Zoom feature which allows you to slowly zoom towards the focused object while capturing video. So all those who want professional cinematographer results, they should give V30 a try.
The dual lenses on the iPhone 7 Plus are of 12MP. The primary sensor aperture size is f/1.8 whereas the secondary sensor is the telephoto lens. The key highlight of this camera setup is its zooming capabilities, the user can capture long distance objects without compromising the image quality. It comes with OIS so you won't get blurry images while capturing during the move. The front facing sensor on the iPhone 7 Plus is a 7MP module.
Both the devices perform pretty great in most of the situations, however, the devices excel in the different niche of camera setups. Once again it will be customer personal preference which camera setup they prefer.
The LG V30 is light up by a 3,300mAh battery cell whereas the iPhone 7 Plus is powered up by a significantly smaller battery cell of 2,900mAh. Before drawing to the conclusion, it is important to mention that bigger battery in some circumstances doesn't guarantee longer battery life. In case of V30 and iPhone 7 Plus, both the devices have different display size and screen resolution. The V30 has a significantly larger display with Quad HD+ screen resolution means it require more juice to operate. The iPhone 7 Plus display is smaller as well as its screen resolution is only Full HD.
According to Apple the iPhone 7 Plus can provide 21 hours of talk time on single charge whereas LG stated the V30 can provide its users 20 hours of talk time on single battery. Still, the V30 battery cell brings few add-on which isn't available for the V30 users. For instance, it supports Wireless charging feature which isn't available for the iPhone 7 Plus. The V30 comes with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 supports which means it will charge at much faster pace.
Both the devices come with the different Operating system, it could be one of the deciding aspects to prefer any smartphone. Though the Apple iPhone 7 Plus iOS 10 is more user-friendly and intuitive still the V30's Android Nougat 7.1.2 is more customizable. LG confirmed the V30 will get the latest Android Oreo but they didn't confirm the time when the device will receive the update.
Apple iPhone 7 Plus owners will have added the advantage of getting latest patches and updates at much faster pace than V30. The V30 isn't bringing the stock UI experience but instead, it has UI layer over the vanilla version to get full use of the device aspect ratio.
At the moment, it is still in the dark when the LG's latest flagship will be released in the US at what price tag. The device will be released in South Korea on Sep 21st. The iPhone 7 Plus available in the markets across the globe for almost a year, it can be purchased at $770 in the US. The V30 is expected to cost around $750 in the US, however, we have to wait until the company officially kick off pre-orders in the states.
Both the devices are bringing powerful hardware and solid design to lure customers. However, in some aspects, the V30 takes lead whereas in few departments the iPhone 7 Plus is the better option. For instance, the V30 features an amazing larger OLED display with more than double screen resolution of the iPhone 7 Plus. The V30 brings more charging options as well as its native storage is expandable via MicroSD card.
The iPhone 7 Plus owners can get the full benefit of 2X optical zoom as well as the portrait Mode of their dual rear camera setup, the latest patches of OS are rolled out to the iPhone 7 Plus user much quickly. The V30's price tag could play a significant role in grabbing either one of the devices.
