Several Watch Series 3 devices crashing when querying about today's weather | Report

06 November 2017 3

Several Apple Watch Series 3 devices have experienced a crash when they are asked about the weather forecast from Siri. Users have reported that this crashing issue only occurs when asked about “today’s weather.”

Interestingly, nothing happens when the owners ask about the weather for the future dates. Many users are reporting that if you ask Siri about tomorrow’s weather, the same issue won’t persist, but ask it, “how is the weather for today,” it will crash and shows the Apple logo on the black background. In fact, according to the users, Siri doesn’t say anything, sometimes she starts saying “here’s the forecast for…” before being cut off.

This issue is reportedly showing in both LTE and non-LTE models.

A number of users are complaining about the same on Reddit. According to a user, the issue might be related to the end of Daylight Saving Time, which took place Sunday morning.

If I ask for the weather in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, it works. If I ask for the weather in Winnipeg, Manitoba, it crashes. Saskatchewan doesn't observe DST. I think if a time change is set to occur within 24 hours in the city you're asking about, it will crash.

The user who first reported this issue on Reddit has already submitted it to the Apple Watch feedback form. Furthermore, it has now become a widely-known issue, so of course, Apple may know about that ad

There doesn’t seem to be any temporary solution for the same. For now, you can just ask it about tomorrow and future forecasts.
