The Face ID on iPhone X is a pretty cool functionality. It lets you unlock your iPhone by simply looking at it which is surely a lot more convenient than other biometric methods. But it is the possibility of it getting tricked by someone else looking like you has made people question whether it should be used. While we have come across cases where identical twins and masks were used, there is a new incident where a 10-year-old kid was able to trick Face ID on his mom's iPhone X.
This strange yet true case has been reported to have happened to the family of Attaullah Malik and Sana Sherwani residing in Staten Island, New York. As noted by Malik, his 10-year-old son Ammar was able to get into her mother's Face ID-enabled iPhone X within the first attempt. He said that they encountered this unexpected situation when they were busy exploring their new iPhone Xs after setting everything up including Face ID. This is when their son entered the room to have a look at the iPhone X and her mother teased her that he will not be able to get access. And as we mentioned above, he managed to get into the iPhone within his first attempt.
Here is a video shared by Malik (shot for Wired) demonstrating the incident:
As you can see in the video, Ammar had no issues whatsoever in unlocking the iPhone X with his face. Malik is amazed because of this incident but mainly because he says that his son and wife have quite different facial features. He further said that they tried to replicate the same thing with his iPhone X. In this situation, Ammar has been able to fool his dad's iPhone X Face ID only once.
While the exact reason how Face ID got tricked with Ammar's face is unknown, we would suggest you run a small test with your family members to see if any of them is able to fool Face ID on your iPhone X. This is likely to save you from a situation when someone else is using your device while you are thinking that it is completely protected because of the facial recognition.

There you are. In this case, it sounds like it has happened by fluke. But people have made masks to unlock the phones with the masks instead of their own faces.
Well, now who's smarter, the 10-year old kid or the entire team of Face ID :p :p
I am not talking about this case, but especailly those who are doing it with faces and masks. And looks like everyone is busy proving how the Face ID is wrong.
Whatever is the fact, the truth is that no system can be foolproof. If there is
one new technique there are a hundred techniques to counter it.
