More than six months ago, Apple's CEO Tim Cook said that Amazon Prime Video will be made available on Apple TV, but after that it was all silence. That has finally changed, and now Amazon's online streaming service is finally available on Apple TV (third generation and above).
The Prime Video tvOS app is now available for download on the Apple App Store for TV. The current version of the app is 5.0, and can be found by searching for "Amazon Prime Video".
The launch of Amazon Prime Video on Apple TV possibly means that Amazon may also start selling Apple TV's - something which was not available on Amazon before.
“We want our player, our Prime Video player, to be on the device, and we want it to be on the device with acceptable business terms,” Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos had said last year. “And if you can’t, then we don’t want to sell it to our customers because they’re going to be buying it thinking they can watch Prime Video and then they’re going to be disappointed. And they’re going to return it.”
