Apple registering "Connects to Apply Watch" trademark for new smart health devices in the future

28 December 2017 0

Apple is trying to go big on health, from health sensors on iPhones to improved health apps, and from partnerships with health related tech companies such as Health Gorilla to investments in health startups like Gliimpse. The tech giant has filed for registration of new figurative trademarks that indicate the company is going to release new health devices in the future.

The new filings, based on Jamaica application number 072768 and 072769 (filed back in June 2017), are for a trademark that says "Connect(s) to Apple Watch". One of these depicts a logo of a runner in white with caption "Connect to Apple Watch", whereas the second, very similarly, circles the runner in lime green and says "Connects" instead of "Connect".

The runner logo clearly indicates that the trademarks are health-related, not to mention that they were filed under international classes that cover software in the field of health and fitness, exercise and wellness sensors/equipment, and medical apparatus/devices.

This indicates that Apple is planning a horde of smart health devices that will also be able to connect to the Apple Watch, creating an ecosystem of devices that can be accessed through your Apple smartwatch. It is not clear whether or when these potential devices might also connect iOS devices.
