Insta360 is a well-known Chinese brand for releasing compact 360-degree cameras meant for smartphone users. One of its most popular products is the Insta360 Nanao for iPhone users and now, it has announced an upgraded version of the same at CES 2018. It is named Insta360 Nano S and brings support for 4K 360-degree video recordings and 20MP still photos among other significant changes.
The best part is that Insta360 has kept the product design and size same as the predecessor which means the new Nano S is compatible with older accessories. It connects to iPhone via lightning port and gives different features/modes to play around with. There is inbuilt support for direct sharing of the 360-degree video/images to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter (Periscope), and Baidu. You can even live stream the content on social platforms with support for broadcasting.
With the Nano S, Insta360 has added a new feature called Multi View which lets you capture different views (like front, back, and top) at the same time. This mode can be used for regular 360-degree video recording, live streams, and even video calls. For video call purposes, the user will have to share a link with the recipients which will be able to pan around the video and see the feed from different view angles. Another interesting feature available with the camera is FreeCapture. It gives users the freedom of adjusting any frame of the 360-degree video along with the option of zooming-in and out.
In terms of technical specs, the Nano S sports an undisclosed Sony sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It is compatible with iPhone X, iPhone 8/8 Plus, iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPhone 6s/6s Plus, and iPhone 6/6 Plus. There is an 800mAh battery to keep you going and a microUSB port to charge the device.
The Insta360 Nano S has been priced at $239 with the option to choose from Black and Silver color options. The good thing is that it is already available for purchase via online Insta360 store and Amazon.
