While Huawei is the highest selling smartphone brand in China which is the biggest smartphone market in the world, Cupertino tech giant Apple had a great year pushing its flagship smartphone in the Chinese market too with iPhone 7 Plus being the second most sold smartphone in 2017 while the smaller iPhone 7 placed fifth position overall as per a popular online journal.
Its clearly evident that smartphone consumers in China give preference to the bigger size smartphones and thus iPhone 7 Plus had a clear edge over the smaller sized variant. Apple was the only foreign brand that penetrated into the top ten positions in Chinese smartphone market with a total market share of iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 combined being 5.2%.
Oppo R9 was the winner overall with 3% market share of overall sales. The silicon valley giant Apple had a great success with signal model sales though the Chinese counterpart wins overall thanks to many more models in different price-ranges, while Apple is currently placed at number fourth in Chinese smartphone market. We are yet to experience if Apple is still able to perform and continue the trend from the previous year knowing that iPhone X offers a much better package overall then the predecessors.
