Apple is said to be working on an upgraded version of its AirPods which will be announced in 2018. According to a report from Bloomberg, the truly wireless earbud-style headphones that Apple introduced in last year will include Siri so that the users can control it using the voice commands. However, this isn’t going to be the only change as the 2018 edition is also expected to include a new version of the “W” line of chips.
Apple creates these chips to manage and improve Bluetooth-based connections between gadgets. Back in December, the very known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that 2018 AirPods coming in mid-late 2018 will include a “smaller quartz component.” The company is said to have also recruited Luxshare to manufacture AirPods in a bid to meet the huge demand.
As per Kuo’s report, Apple is also planning to launch a new inductive AirPods charging case which will allow the wireless earphones to be charged with its new Airpower charging mat.
Now, according to the fresh report, the users would be able to activate Siri in AirPods by voice rather than by physically tapping the AirPod in your ear. The report from Bloomberg also states that Apple is in works with another model of AirPods that will include a new level of water-resistance so as to protect against “splashes of water and rain” rather than full submersion like the current Apple Watch. According to the report, this version of AirPods will launch in 2019.
