macOS 10.14 leak shows video previews, Apple News app, and dark theme

04 June 2018 1

We are only a few hours away from the annual Apple developer conference called WWDC. It is the event where we expect Apple to make a number of significant announcements related to its products, services, and vision for the future. And thanks to a leak just in time, we have an idea of what Apple might have in store for us when it comes to the next iteration of macOS.

The leak is coming from a well-known developer Steve Troughton-Smith who shared some screenshots revealing some of the yet to be announced macOS changes. The biggest change that you will notice is the use of dark theme across different interfaces and windows. This suggests that dark theme is finally coming to macOS which is something many users will appreciate.

Another change includes video previews support for the Mac App Store. It means all apps in the store will have video previews so that users can have a better idea about them. It further suggests that Apple might bring the App Store redesign to the Mac App Store along with the change.

Since we are basically talking about apps, it is worth mentioning that macOS 10.14 might also bring Apple News app. The app is currently restricted only to iOS devices but it seems like this is going to change in the near future.

This whole leak is based on the video preview of Xcode 10 running on macOS 10.14. You can watch the video below.

While there are reasons to believe that this leak is a legit one, we will have to wait for the official announcement. There are only a few hours to the event and we will keep you updated.
