watchOS 5 beta reportedly bricking Apple Watch; update halted

06 June 2018 2

During the first day of WWDC 2018, Apple announced all the major software upgrades including watchOS 5. It is the latest iteration of the operating system meant for Apple Watch devices. The first beta for the same was released yesterday and as expected, many enthusiasts proceeded with the process of installing the same on their respective smartwatches. But as things have turned out, things did not go as per expectations for many of the users.

As per a Reddit thread, Apple has apparently stopped the rollout of watchOS 5 beta 1. It has mentioned that the decision has been taken to investigate an issue which is arising while updating the wearable. But a few of the users have claimed that the new watchOS 5 beta is actually bricking Apple Watch. The issue is said to be more prevalent on the Apple Watch 2 units.

Apple has not mentioned anything clearly about the issue and did not comment on how much time it will take to fix the same. This means that our only option is to wait until Apple releases the fixed version. And if you happen to be one of those users who is facing the issue, you can contact AppleCare to get your Apple Watch working again.

The new watchOS 5 comes with a bunch of features aimed at enhancing the overall user experience. There are special features related to health and fitness for those who use it for their fitness routine. There is a new Sirt watch face with improvements to help you get more out of it. There is even a new Walkie-Talkie mode which makes it really fast to get connected with another user and have a voice conversation like you are on a call.
