Apple's September 12th event is expected to be packed with new hardware launches with main focus on the new-generation iPhone X models. This is where it will also be unveiling new iPad Pro (2018) models which are rumored to arrive in two display size variants. Now, there is a new leak from MySmartPrice in collaboration with @OnLeaks detailing hardware specs for the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) along with high-quality renders and a 360-degree video.
To start off, the upcoming iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) is shown to be sporting a smaller profile, thanks to slimmer bezels all-around. This is simply because Apple is rumored to be ditching the physical home button on the front panel. While these bezels are slim, don't expect them to be as slim as last year's iPhone X. The overall dimensions of the tablet are expected to be 280.6 x 215 x 5.85 mm but the thickness increases to 7.77m considering the rear camera bump.
It will be sporting a 12.9-inch True Tone IPS LCD display with better and variable refresh rate for a smoother user experience. Under the hood, it is likely to offer Apple's best and latest chipset which would be succeeding last year's A11 Bionic and is likely to be called A12. The RAM capacity is expected to stay the same at 4GB but storage variants can go as high as 512GB.
Since there is no home button, Apple will pack the iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) with TrueDepth camera module to offer Face ID facial recognition. This is the reason Apple is expected to have changed the position of the Smart Connector to make sure that the iPad stays in the vertical position even when the Smart Keyboard Cover is connected. This will prevent users from using it in the landscape mode where Face ID is not supposed to work. And yes, there are no words on whether Apple will retain or ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack.
As mentioned in the beginning, Apple will be launching both iPad Pro (2018) models on September 12th. We will be bringing all the latest information from the event to you.
