Apple's new patent suggest biometric unlock for cars

12 February 2019 2

As technology advances, we’re experiencing new ways of authentication implemented in various technologies around the world. We have been unlocking cars through keys since the start of the times and this is one aspect of our lives which should be moving forward. Just how keyless entry through car remote control offered a great sense of ease, fingerprint authentication or through eyes would be a way to go into the future. Just recently, Hyundai is thought to be coming with a new car that could offer fingerprint authentication.

Apple has recently filed a patent that talks about "System and Method for Vehicle Authorization," shows how cars could be unlocked through Face ID. This means that we could be seeing ‘User accounts’ to be seen in upcoming cars where multiple users could get authenticated through their very own accounts pre-registered into the system.

Interestingly, this could be taken much further with different car settings set for each user like temperature control, seat adjustments, music, climate control and more. This very patent was filed back in February 2017 and got published a few days back. Currently, it's not sure if Apple is actively working on this project or not what sure is that Apple along with other tech companies is doing their paperwork right to protect their ideas.
