Apple has officially confirmed that it will be holding an event on March 25th. It has sent out media invites for the event and as we have started to expect, Apple invites do not actually offer any details about what to expect. The venue of the event is the Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino, California.
In the invite, Apple is referring to the event as "Apple Specia Event" along with the tagline "It's Show Time". This tagline was first used by Apple in 2006 when it introduced iTV (renamed to Apple TV in 2007) and announced iTunes catalog expansion to include movies. If we consider that and recent reports, there is a high probability that Apple is all set to unveil its TV streaming service at the event.
There have been numerous reports about Apple working on its own TV shows and movies streaming service to take on the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. The most recent report claimed an April release for the service and considering the March 25th event date, this does seem to be in line with that.
Apple has already spent a huge sum of money on building original and exclusive contents in an attempt to set it apart from the competition. The exact details regarding the service are currently unknown but as the event is only a couple of weeks away, we will not have to wait much longer.
