Apple second-gen AirPods with H1 chip, optional Wireless Charging Case launched

20 March 2019 1

Seeing Apple silently launching the refreshed hardware, including iPad models and iMacs, it wasn't difficult to guess that the much-rumored AirPods could be the next one. The second-generation AirPods powered by the company’s designed H1 chip are finally official. One of the key highlights of the AirPods is the hands-free accessibility that allows you to change songs, make a call, adjust the volume or get directions simply by saying “Hey Siri.”

Another main highlight is more time with the new AirPods, according to Apple, the second-gen AirPods offers 50 percent more talk time compared to the original AirPods.

The new H1 chip which has been developed specifically for headphones aims to deliver faster connect times, more talk time, better performance. Apple says that switching between devices while listening to music on iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad is more seamless with two times faster connect times.

The new AirPods either come with standard charging case or a new Wireless Charging Case for convenient charging at home and on the go. This wireless charging case works with all generations of AirPods and Apple says existing AirPods customers can purchase the standalone Wireless Charging Case. The Wireless Charging Case comes with a Qi-compatible charging solution. There’s a LED light indicator located on the front of the case to tell you the charge status.

They both are available to order on apple.com and the Apple Store app starting today. The second-gen AirPods with the standard wired charging case are available at $159 and the new Wireless Charging Case costs $199.

The more hands-free accessibility we get, the easier it is to manage devices. But what's the flip side? Hands-free accessibility is making us lazier
