Apple has released watchOS 5.2 update for eligible Apple Watch devices around the world. It is the latest stable version of the smartwatch OS from Apple and brings one of the most requested features to many more countries. It is the support for EGG application and the ability to send notifications for irregular rhythms.
With watchOS 5.2 update, Apple has expanded the availability of ECG app in 19 European countries and Hong Kong. The list of supported countries in Europe includes Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. Prior to this, the app was available only in the United States.
As explained by Apple, "The ECG app can capture heart rhythm on demand in a moment when users experience symptoms such as a rapid or skipped a heartbeat and help provide clinically important data to physicians. The irregular rhythm notification feature on Apple Watch occasionally checks heart rhythm in the background and sends a notification if an irregular heart rhythm that appears to be atrial fibrillation (AFib) is identified."
watchOS 5.2 is an over the air update which should be arriving on your particular Apple Watch anytime soon. It is advised to keep it charged to at least 50% before installing the update and also connect to a WiFi connection.
