Apple is predicted to announce SiriOS at WWDC 2020. The prediction has been made by an investment firm Mangrove in its report called Voice Tech 2019. The report talks about voice-based technologies in their current state and makes predictions about what could happen in the coming years.
Mangrove has predicted voice-based technologies to increase many folds and become hugely popular in the coming decade. It is expecting everyone to rely on voice commands for interacting with smart devices around them. The main reason behind the same is said to be that using voice is “far more natural, convenient and efficient” than using other input methods like a keyboard. It is expecting different tech companies including Apple to play a vital role in the growth.
This is where it made the prediction about the arrival of SiriOS, a platform dedicated to Siri digital assistant. It is expected to become official in June next year i.e. WWDC 2020. It should be noted that this is only a prediction and is not based on any leaks or any information coming from Apple. It is the reason that Mangrove has no idea about what SiriOS will exactly look like and how it will work.
One speculation is that SiriOS will allow Apple to begin independent development for the digital assistant. It is a well-known fact that Siri is seen as an inferior assistant when compared to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It is mainly because of all the restrictions and limitations that have been put on Siri. With a dedicated platform of its own, there is a possibility that all those restrictions might get removed. This could result in third-party developers taking full advantage of the freedom and creating even better things powered by Siri.
But regardless of all the speculations, one should not forget that SiriOS is only a prediction at this moment. There is no evidence to suggest that anything like it even exists. If Apple actually has it or even something like it on work, we should definitely be hearing about it more in the future.
