Apple has officially started taking HomePod pre-orders in Japan. It made the announcement via an official blog post revealing that the smart speaker will go on sale starting August 23rd. It means exactly one week from today, you will be able to purchase HomePod if you are living in Japan.
The HomePod can be preordered via the official Apple Japan website. It can also be booked by visiting the Apple Store and Apple product stotes in the country. It has been released in both White and Space Gray color variants. If interested, it will cost you Yen 32,800 which is about $299.
For uninitiated ones, Apple's HomePod is a smart speaker like Google Home and Amazon Echo devices. It is powered by Siri digital assistant and is able to connect with a compatible iOS device and can be used for different purposes. It means you can ask Siri questions like you usually do on your iPhone or iPad. Some of the things include checking the weather forecast, current temperature, live sports scores, traffic updates, breaking news, and asking general questions to get instant answers.
The HomePod has special integration with Apple Music so that you can enjoy your favorite music through voice commands. There are songs from all sorts of artists, albums, and genres including J-Pop. It can also be used as a smart home hub for managing and controlling your smart home appliances from a single place.
