It seems like Apple will have a busy start to the next year as industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted it to launch at least four new hardware products. As per his latest research note, Apple will have the iPhone SE 2, iPad Pro with 3D ToF rear camera, new MacBooks, and even the much-rumored Apple AR headset ready for release by Q2 2020.
The iPhone SE 2 will be a successor to the original iPhone SE that was launched years ago. It will be the most affordable iPhone among current-generation models and will replace iPhone 11 to take the spot. Although, the price reduction will mean you will get a phone with A13 chipset and iPhone 8-like design. It is expected to cost somewhere between $400 and $500 but this is pure speculation at the moment.
Apple has been offering front-facing 3D ToF cameras for quite some time but starting next year, it will release a new iPad Pro model featuring 3D ToF camera on the back. It will allow the tablet to collect accurate data about the surroundings thanks to the depth-sensing capabilities. This change is likely to be aimed at making iPad Pro capable of offering more immersive augmented reality experiences.
As for MacBooks, there will be new models that are said to make use of the scissor-switch keyboard style instead of the butterfly mechanism. It is said to debut with the new 16-inch MacBook Pro expected to become official in the near future. Kuo believes that once this model is released, Apple will launch 2020 MacBooks with the same new keyboard style.
Lastly, the most important bit of information is that Apple's first-ever AR headset will be announced publically in Q2 2020. The only other thing Kuo has mentioned is that it expects Apple to team up with third-party brands for the release. The exact nature of this collaboration and even the brand names are currently unknown. There have been a few reports about the Apple AR headset in the past but the majority of the details including product design are still missing.
