Even if you are a die-hard Android fan, you would agree that Apple iPhones have one of the best smartphone cameras. They are great for clicking different types of photos and Apple just keeps making them better and better with each passing year. This holds true for the latest iPhone 11 series as well, especially the iPhone 11 Pro models. And to show exactly how good these new phones are, a photographer Matti Haapoja has posted an interesting camera comparison on his YouTube channel.
This camera comparison pits the iPhone 11 Pro against the Canon 1DX Mark II DSLR worth $7,500. It is not the first time we are seeing YouTube videos comparing a smartphone camera (especially iPhones) with a DSLR but with this new one, you will get to see surprising results. Hapooja has shown a bunch of shots taken from both cameras in a side-by-side comparison and has asked viewers to guess which one is what.
As you might have guessed, the competition is closer than ever and unless you have a trained eye, you are likely to make a wrong guess. Your best bet to make a correct guess is to look for Bokeh effect details and background to notice the differences. But regardless of whether your guess is right or wrong, it is astonishing to see a smartphone camera competing so closely with an expensive camera rig.
There is no denying that Canon DSLR's hardware and camera sensor are far superior to Apple but it is the computational photography that is making the difference for the latter. Apple has a team of hundreds of engineers that work specifically on improving camera performance. They are leveraging the powers and capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) to offer such amazing results.
