In the stream of rumors and reports on the iPhone models 2020, there is now a new report on the MacBook model coming next year. The report citing the note of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests the notebook could be announced at either WWDC in June or with a press release in July next year.
The report also specifically points out that the next year’s MacBook models could feature a scissor-switch keyboard. According to Kuo, Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron will be the primary supplier of parts for the scissor-switch keyboards in 2020.
It is doubtful if the reported MacBook Pro model is the same as the widely-rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro model which is due to launch in the fourth quarter of 2019 with a scissor-switch keyboard. Recently, its presence was discovered inside macOS Catalina 10.15.1 beta 2 which put enough hint at the possibility of near launch.
Note that the last MacBook Pro to feature scissor switches was released in 2015 and Apple then switched to a problematic butterfly mechanism. But this is changing now and we may see a new MacBook Pro adopting this change from this year or next year, at least.
Kuo’s research note which is obtained by MacRumors states nothing else. The details on the device are pretty scarce but we may get to learn more about 2020 MacBook models as we steadily proceed to next year.
