Apple has released all-new redesigned and updated Apple Maps in the United States. It is a huge update for the maps and navigation application as it is loaded with numerous changes and new features. It is essentially a complete overhaul of the app that is likely to please Apple device users.
The new Apple Maps update is said to bring "faster and more accurate" maps representation and navigation. It comes with new comprehensive views of roads, buildings, parks, airports, malls and more. These changes are said to make it easier for users to locate buildings and places on the map.
Just like Google Maps, Apple has added 3D photographs of certain places that will help users to see what they look like real. It is like being there at the place and can be found in cities like New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, and Oahu. This feature is called Look Around on Apple Maps.
One interesting feature added to the new update is called Collections. It is a feature that adds the ability to create a collection of places you want to visit. A user can have multiple collections, name them accordingly, and even share with others. This can be helpful when you are visiting a new place or even on a trip within your own city.
It provides real-time transit which provides information like transit schedules, live departure times, arrival times, and the current location of a bus or train en route. It has been available for various cities for a long time and has now been expanded to Miami. Apple says more cities will be added soon.
A user can choose to share their estimated time of arrival (ETA) with contacts. The recipient will not only be able to follow the journey but will also receive an updated ETA in case of a significant delay. Other noteworthy features include flight status, indoor maps for airports and malls, Siri natural language guidance, and immersive 3D views of select major metro areas.
