LG has officially announced that Apple TV application is now available for 2019 LG TVs. The native app support has been added for users from the United States and more than 80 other countries around the globe. It will allow users to watch Apple TV+ content including movies and TV shows from their LG smart TVs.
As per the announcement, the Apple TV app will reside within the LG Home Launcher for quick access. The app can be used for subscribing to the premium membership. It will also allow users to subscribe to Apple TV channels as well as buy or rent movies as per their preference or need. In other words, the app will serve as a single destination for accessing everything that Apple has to offer in the streaming aspect.
Since many of the LG TVs already support AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, Apple TV will undoubtedly a nice addition to the whole Apple ecosystem. These include all of the 2019 LG OLED TVs and NanoCell TVs from the SM9X and SM8X series. As for the Apple TV app support, it will become available via a firmware update which you must install.
LG is also planning to bring Apple TV app to 2018 LG TVs but there is no specific release timeline yet. It is expected to arrive sometime late this year. Lastly, all 2020 LG TVs will also come pre-installed with the Apple TV app.
