Update: July 12, 2021
A new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman states that Apple iPad Mini 6 will feature the "biggest redesign in the nine-year history." The report also states that this iPad will launch somewhere this fall. This means we can see it coming anywhere between September to November this year.
The report covers nothing else other than suggesting the tablet's launch timeframe. However, in its last report, Bloomberg had delivered a few insights which you can read below from the original article.

The rumors on the Apple iPad mini have been swirling around for a while now. According to a number of speculations, Apple is prepping to refresh its smallest tablet, the iPad mini. Up until now, Apple has given significant upgrades to its iPad Air and iPad Pro models but the smallest of all is still old and dated. It requires a refresh so to align with other models in the line of iPads.
Now, Jon Prosser, a notable tech YouTuber who sometimes also engages in bringing tips and leaks has now come up with a set of images of the alleged iPad mini. As strictly described on his site FPT, these are not the leaked renders and have been constructed based on the blend of schematics, CAD files, and hands-on images in order to protect the sources.
One of the images shows the alleged iPad mini 6 alongside the iPad Air (2020) to point out that there is not much of a difference in terms of the design. The purported mini-tablet has flat sides and back and it looks like a shrunken version of the iPad Air (2020).
Furthermore, there is no home button as well, just what Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported last week as well. This means the upcoming iPad mini version is preserving some of the design cues from the last model. The report further points out that the sources have told them there’s only a 3mm difference between the footprint of this new iPad mini and the last.
The Touch ID is embedded in the elongated power button, and the speakers have been “dramatically improved.” The Lightning connector has also been swapped out in favor of USB-C. Citing the sources even further, the report states the newly redesigned iPad mini 6 will come in 3 color variants – Silver, black, and gold. Well, sources have also conveyed that the iPad mini 6 will support Apple Pencil as well. This Apple Pencil will also have a smaller size – “Apple Pencil mini”?
It appears the rumored iPad mini 6 might get the Apple Pencil that was leaked in April. The report even takes that leaked image and places it against the current Apple Pencil to draw the size comparison. And, the result shows the leaked Apple Pencil is indeed smaller than the existing one. So, it is likely this one is built for the smaller iPad mini.
This report on constructed renders does not bring along technical details. However, it does point out that the iPad mini 6 will ship with 5G and Apple’s A14 processor. It might launch by the end of this year.
