Apple debuted mini-LED display technology on the iPad Pro 2021 model earlier this year. It is currently limited to the bigger 12.9-inch model but starting next year, it is now rumored to expand to the smaller version as well. The rumor is based on the newest research notes shared by Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known market analyst.
It is reported that Apple is ready to ship both 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with mini-LED display panels next year. It seems like the Cupertino-based tech giant is now fully sold on the new display technology. The team is now ready to invest more and bring to as many devices as possible but obviously in a gradual manner.
Mini-LED is a technology that has numerous small-sized LEDs in the backlight. This helps users get deeper Blacks and higher contrast ratios for a better media consumption experience. It should be noted that Apple refers to the tech as Liquid Retina XDR in the official data-sheet as well as marketing campaigns.
Apple's iPad Pro lineup for 2022 is largely expected to be the same as the current generation. There will obviously be generational hardware upgrades like the use of the latest processor. There have been rumors of Apple considering a glass back panel for the iPad Pro but it is unknown whether we will see that happen as soon as next year.
