CES 2017: Neonode's AirBar makes MacBook Air display touchscreen

04 January 2017 0

Apple MacBook Air is one of the best notebooks that you can get in the market. It is full of latest specifications and offers unmatched performance but there is one slight disappointment, it is not a touchscreen. But if you want it to be one, Neonode's AirBar is the accessory that you should get immediately.

Neonode unveiled the AiBar at CES 2017 which is an accessory that transforms any MacBook Air display into a touchscreen. It looks like a simple bar accessory which gets connected to your MacBook Air via USB port and is placed alongside the display's bottom. Once you have got it connected, you can instantly start using swipes, pinch and zoom, and many other touch screen gestures. There is no need of any new software installation or any other hardware change inside the machine.

As described by Neonode, AirBar uses "patented zForce AIR technology to emit an invisible light field over a display that senses touch from fingers, gloves and even a paintbrush."

If interested, you can preorder AirBar for MacBook Air now but do remember that it's currently compatible with only 13.3-inch model. Neonode said that it plans to expand AirBar to other MacBook Air models by the end of the first half of this year. There is no word on the pricing yet.

In case you have a 15.6-inch Windows 10 PC, you can get the AirBar for $69. But for 13.3-incha and 14-inch models, you will have to wait as the compatible AirBar model will be released in early March.

Remo Behdasht, SVP of AirBar devices at Neonode said,

We believe the community of devoted MacBook Air users will welcome this new product, as AirBar for MacBook Air will surely enhance the user-experience of an already great product. Our goal for AirBar continues to be expanding its application to more devices, across even more markets.”
