It has been about two years since Apple introduced Live Photos with the launch of iPhone 6s but it is still not as widespread on the internet as many other media formats are. One major reason behind this is that there was no standard way of putting Live Photos on the web except for the integration offered by Tumblr. But it seems like this situation is going to change in near future.
To give you a little idea, here is how it works:
The developers will be able to control the duration for which the video will continue to play. They can even choose whether it will play automatically or only when the user hovers the mouse over "Live" label on the top right corner of the player. With the release of this API, we can hope to see more Live Photos on more websites as we browse the internet.
