Apple's developer community earned over $70B since App Store's launch

Apple just announced that its App Stores global developer community has earned over $70 billion since its inception in 2008. They also stated that the downloads of the App Store have grown over 70 percent in the past 1 year. Tim Cook revealed in February that their App Store revenue is making double than Google's Play Store, and now this new announcement seems to be adding more success numbers.


Apple dedicated this success to the various apps like Super Mario Run and Pokemon GO which were instant hits around the world as well as apps like SPACE by THIX, Vanido, Ace Tennis etc. which were very novel in their appeal.

Apple’s subscription business model, which is now available to developers across all 25 app categories enjoys a good 58 percent growth every year through the active paid subscriptions.


Best-selling services like Netflix and Hulu as well as new entrants like Tastemade and Over are also mentioned by Apple. On the other hand, Gaming and Entertainment were stated as the top grossing categories.

Apple also acknowledged the App Store developers from around the world for their great initiatives and products which have helped the App Store reach unbelievable growth figures over the years.
