Here's the end, here's the official news about Apple's music players: iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano getting their faces out from the family picture. Honestly, this didn't come as a surprise as we were thoroughly expecting the company to make the move. Both of the devices have been removed from the official website, at least in the US.
However, if their web pages are still on the internet in your country, it doesn't mean that the devices are still on the manufacturing line. Apple has officially told Business Insider in an exchange about the discontinuation.
Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod touch now with double the capacity starting at just $199 and we are discontinuing the iPod shuffle and iPod nano
The search results on apple.com still show up the devices, however, they redirect to the Apple Music page or when clicked on the Buy link, the page will give a 404 error or precisely "No page found" error.
iPod Shuffle and iPod and Nano haven't been updated for quite some years. Only the iPod Touch got the new internals while the others in the line got only new colors.
