Apple TV 4K HDR announced with new A10X Fusion CPU and tvOS

12 September 2017 4

As expected in many rumors and reports before, Apple took the stage to announce the all-new Apple TV 4K with HDR support. It means the current generation Apple TV will not only offer more pixels but better quality pixels for more realistic TV experience. It basically supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10. You can imagine the excitement of the Apple regarding the Apple TV 4K display quality that they showed a 4K HDR demo on the stage to all the audience. The team has even worked on remastered screensavers for the 4K resolution.

As for the performance aspect, the Apple TV 4K is powered by the new A10X Fusion processor with 3GB RAM and new tvOS version. This is the same chipset which is also available on the iPad Pro. Apple announced that it has partnered with various Hollywood studios like Sony Pictures, Universal, and 20th Century Fox to bring amazing 4K content to iTunes. Because after all, there is no point in having an Apple TV 4K if you don't have any 4K content to watch. But the best part is that Apple will be offering all 4K movies at the same price as HD movies and if you have any previous purchases, they will be upgraded to 4K quality automatically without any extra charges. The same holds true for 4K HDR content from Netflix and Amazon Prime TV but the latter app is yet to come to the platform.

Apple has also announced new features for the Apple TV app which first introduced last year. The app now has more live sports and news content along with availability in more countries. It will come to Australia and Canada by the end of this month followed by France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the UK later this year.

The Apple TV is now also integrated with HomeKit which means better access to your smart home appliances. And yes, you will also be getting games with the new Apple TV 4K. The new Apple TV will also support AirPlay 2 which will be coming later this year. This will make it possible for users to control AirPlay 2-enabled speakers and other smart devices directly from the Apple TV 4K.

And like always, you have Siri integration for voice commands to watch your favorite TV shows, movies, sports, and news shows. You can also it to get different tasks done easily and without having to move from your couch. You can do that via Apple TV app even if you are outside and on the move.

The Apple TV 4K has been launched in 32GB and 64GB storage options priced at $179 and $199 respectively. You will be able to place your orders starting September 15th and will be available from September 22nd. And if you are still interested in the past generation Apple TV, it will cost you $149 for the 32GB model.
