Earlier this year, Waze announced a new update for its Android navigation app in partnership with music streaming leader Spotify. The update was aimed at offering a better way to control Spotify music playback while users were busy navigating using the Waze app. Now after about six months its release, Waze has finally expanded the feature to iOS users worldwide.
Once you have installed the updated Waze app version on your iOS device, you will have to link your Waze account with Spotify account. After successful linking, you will see the Spotify app icon on the navigation interface which you can tap to get access to music playback controls. These include controls for switching songs, play/pause, selecting playlists, and jumping directly to the Spotify app.
Waze believes that this new functionality is likely to help in reducing distractions during driving as drivers will not have jump between two apps. Some of the other features of the new update include automatic music playback when navigation starts on Waze and ability to browse playlists only if the car is stopped.
Like most of the updates, Waze is following a gradual rollout of this latest version which should become available to all iOS users in coming time. Keep looking for the update on the App Store.
