Instagram officially tests hiding like count from images and videos

01 May 2019 4

For long people have been obsessed about clicking Insta worthy images and shooting videos to be shared on Instagram. Most often than not, this is done to check the number of likes they get on their Instagram stories, pictures, and videos. However, Instagram may soon stop this. At the Facebook developers conference, Instagram has announced that it will start testing a new feature in Canada, where it will hide users’ public like counts on videos and photos.

This test will be live only in Canada soon with an aim that the users should “focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many likes they get.” This move from Instagram only lets the owner of the account view the number of likes on their posts.

While there were rumors that Instagram is working on such a feature for quite some time, the company never accepted it openly. Now that the company has accepted it and is working on this, it may be rolled out to a wider user base based on the response Instagram gets from its Canadian users.

Though seeing the number of likes and responses, encourages users to create more content however it may put them under huge pressure if some content doesn’t click with the audience. In any case, likes have been a long-standing feature, hiding them from the audience will surely affect the platform.
