Asus' VivoBook lineup of notebooks caters to different types of customers based on their need and budget but with a common goal of delivering premium features at a relatively affordable pricing. In the same direction, it has launched its newest 14-inch notebook named VivoBook 14 (X420) in Taiwan.
The Asus VivoBook 14 (X420) sports a "frameless" NanoEdge display with almost negligible bezels (5.7mm thickness) on all the four sides. It boasts 87% screen-to-body ratio which allowed the company to offer a bigger display within a smaller chassis. This is the reason it is being touted as the most compact and lightweight notebook in the entire VivoBook lineup. To be precise, it measures 322.4 x 210 x 17.7mm and weighs only 1.4kg.
In terms of design, the new notebook comes with Asus' ErgoLift hinge which tilts the notebook keyboard at a slight angle to give a typing experience similar to a desktop keyboard. The tilt happens whenever the notebook is opened and is said to offer a comfortable user experience even when a user needs to type for longer hours at stretch.
As for technical specifications, the Asus VivoBook 14 (X420) sports a 14-inch Full HD display with wide-view technology. This is said to offer an immersive viewing experience even when viewed from "extreme positions". Under the hood, it comes with an option to choose from up to 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor and storage option up to 512GB SSD. There is support for dual-band 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivities. It further features a USB Type-C, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A, USB 2.0, HDMI output, and a microSD card slot. There is also a fingerprint scanner which means it is compatible with Microsoft's Windows Hello functionality when used with Windows 10.
The whole package is powered by a "high-quality battery with all-day battery life" with support for fast charging (charge up to 60% in 49 minutes). Asus is yet to reveal pricing and availability details but we will keep you updated as and when these will be revealed.
