Asus kicked off its IFA 2019 keynote with smartphone and smartwatch announcements. We are talking about the Asus ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition and VivoWatch SP. It also took the platform to announce the global availability of the standard ROG Phone II that was originally launched about two months ago.
Starting with the ROG Phone II Ultimate Edition, it is exactly the same as the standard edition but with the difference of more storage space, Cat.20 LTE support, and a new color finish. This particular edition comes with 1TB of storage which is double than the maximum you can get with the standard variant. The Cat.20 LTE support means you can get data transfer speeds up to 2Gbps and lastly, it has a Matte Black finish which is exclusive to this edition. It has been priced at EUR 1,199 with sales starting sometime around October 2019.
As for the Asus ROG Phone II global availability, it has now been expanded to European markets. The global variant will come in only one configuration i.e. 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. It has been priced at EUR 899 (about $990) but actual pricing may vary depending on the particular market. All other features including specifications remain the same for the global variant. It will go on sale by the end of this month itself.
Next up, we have the Asus VivoWatch SP which is the latest smartwatch with ECG support after the likes of Apple Watch and Withings. It is a direct successor to the VivoWatch BP and improves on everything that the predecessor is able to accomplish. It means you get "medical-grade" ECG and PPG optical sensors. It can be used for tracking one's blood pressure, heart rate, and stress levels with just a 20-second test.
It comes with in-built GPS and Altimeter to help you track how much you climbed up. It further has a Pulse O2 monitor to help you track the level of Oxygen in your body. There is Asus HealthAI technology which provides personalized health management tips based on your health data. It also features 5ATM water resistance and can last for up to 14 days on a single charge. The Asus VivoWatch SP will go on sale starting Q4 2019 but pricing details are unknown at the moment.
