Nintendo, over the years, has fallen into a deathly cycle of re-releasing old consoles in an attempt to take users down memory lane and give them a blast from the past as they revisit games which were released over a decade ago. One of the simplest examples of this is when Nintendo re-released the mini versions of its classic consoles, the NES and SNES. This trend seems to be a pretty catchy one, with other companies doing the same like Nokia when they released a remake of their ancient 3310 phone.
A recent trademark application filed on September 15th by Nintendo reveals that the company might be looking to re-release its original Game Boy. This trademark was surfaced online after being spotted by a Japanese bot which tweeted the image. The original black and white Game Boy may bring back fond memories for those born in the 1990’s. Super Mario, Donkey Kong and the Pokémon series were a few of the most popular games which ran on the Game Boy.
If you did own a Game Boy, do you still have any of the game cartridges with you? It would be amazing to fire up one of the old games again! There isn’t any confirmation regarding this and all of this is based purely on speculation. Given the trend of the company re-releasing consoles, it seems like it would only be a matter of time till the original Game Boy hits the shelves!
