Samsung usually announces two flagships in a year, the Galaxy S series flagship is announced in the first half of the year whereas the phablet Galaxy Note launch is pegged for the second half of the year. This year Samsung already announced the Galaxy S9, the upcoming flagship for the second half of the year was expected to be released as Galaxy Note 9. However today we can confirm indeed the next flagship will be released as Galaxy Note 9.
Samsung registers all premium Galaxy flagships trademarks in Colombia, recently the company registers Galaxy Note 9 which certainly confirms the naming scheme of upcoming Galaxy Note. This will also clear all uncertainties regarding the future of Samsung Galaxy Note series. Last year it was heavily rumored the company might drop Galaxy Note lineup after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco but the company returned back strongly.
Recently we heard that the next year Galaxy S9's successor might not be released as Galaxy S10 instead the company likely will announce the device as Galaxy X. Also, it is important to mention that Galaxy Note 9 name registration doesn't mean it's announcement is around the corner but instead the device will be released sometime in Q3 likely August with a release in September.
As far as Galaxy Note 9 specs are a concern, the device is expected to retain the Infinity display like its predecessor. Though the company is initially testing the device with Android Oreo 8.0 we can expect to be later released with Android Oreo 8.1. The fingerprint will be shifted to a new position below the camera modules. The announcement is still few good months away that's why we can expect more rumors and reports regarding the Galaxy Note 9 in coming months. Stay tuned.
