The Chinese giant Huawei's subsidiary Honor just wraps off the cover from the much-awaited premium smartphone Honor Note 10. The company took two years to announce Note 10 as there wasn't any Note series smartphone from Honor last year. Ahead of official unveiling the company's CEO already confirmed the Honor Note 10 was in development from the last couple of years.
The Honor Note 10 is quite special due to a number of aspects as it is currently the largest smartphone from Honor so far. The Honor Note 10 will be a direct competitor to a number of smartphones including Mi Max 3 and the latest flagships killer OnePlus 6. This year most of the companies adopted a new design language this year for premium smartphones with glass and metal sandwich design. Both Honor and OnePlus also followed the latest trend, however, the final finish is different.
The Honor Note 10 is featuring a metal chassis with 3D glass covering the rear side. The company claimed the 3D glass rear is comprised of 15 layers to give a shiny premium look. The device will be available in two colors including Phantom Blue and Midnight Black. The Honor Note 10 dimensions are 177 x 85 x 7.65mm and weigh 230g.
Unlike the latest smartphones, it doesn't have a notch at the top of the display instead the company opted a complete bezel. On the rear side, you will get dual cameras with dual LED flashlight on the top left side. Due to full front-facing display, the fingerprint scanner is on the rear side below the camera modules in the center. Despite the fact, the device is a premium smartphone but it lacks water and dust resistance capabilities.
Following the latest trend, the Oneplus 6 also has metal chassis with glass covering the front and rear side. Both the front and rear glass is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. On the front-facing side, you will find a notch at the top of the display, it features on-screen navigation buttons. The good thing is if you don't like notch you can remove it with black bars from settings. This year once again Oneplus opted dual cameras placed vertically in the center with fingerprint scanner below it.
The OnePlus 6 measurements are 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.75mm and weighs 177g. The Honor Note is taller and wider than the OnePlus 6, however slightly slimmer. As far as colors are a concern the OnePlus 6 is available in Mirror Black, Midnight Black, and Silk White colors. Both the devices have the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. Although OnePlus 6 also lacks IP-ratings, the company claims it can resist rain and shower water due to the special coating.

The display screen resolution is 1080 x 2280 pixels and the pixels density is 401 pixels-per-inch. It lacks HDR support. The OnePlus 6 has an advantage of higher pixels density whereas the Honor Note 10 comes with AI image tuning which improves the display quality by up to 20%.

Both the Honor Note 10 and OnePlus 6 comes with dual cameras on the rear side. The Honor Note 10 primary sensor is 24MP whereas the secondary sensor is 16MP. Both the sensors aperture size are f/1.8. Honor tuned cameras with AI 2.0 which makes it capable to detect more than 500 scenes in 22 categories. As soon as the camera app is opened, the camera sensor can detect at what you are looking to better adjust colors, contrast and other settings to provide optimal results.
The OnePlus 6 also comes with dual cameras. Both the sensors are the main lenses of 16MP+20MP. The company claims this year's primary sensor is 19% larger than last year's module and also it has optical image stabilization.
The front-facing selfie camera on the Honor Note 10 is 13MP whereas the OnePlus 6 has a 16MP sensor. Both the device rear cameras support portrait mode shots. The cameras setup on both the devices is pretty good but certainly not amongst the best ones in the market.
Both the smartphones are pre-installed with the latest Android Oreo 8.1, however, the custom UI layers are different on both the devices. The Honor Note 10 comes with the latest EMUI 8.2 with significant bloatware whereas the OnePlus 6 has a very thin Oxygen OS layer over the stock Android OS. The standard model has 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, it costs 3,199 Yuan. Last but not the least the top-tier model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage can be purchased at 3,599 Yuan.
Apart from two regular variants the Honor Note 10 special edition Honor Note 10 GT is announced in Lily White color. Initially, the Honor targetted the budget-friendly smartphone, now they are aiming to achieve success in the budget-friendly segment. The OnePlus 6 base variant with 64GB storage costs $529, if you double the storage, you will have to pay $50 more.
The Honor Note 10 is initially available in China only whereas the OnePlus 6 is widely available in almost all regions.
Both the Honor Note 10 and OnePlus 6 are offering great value for money.
