The Chinese giant Huawei's sub-brand Honor recently announced the much anticipated Honor Note 10 Pro. The device was in rumors mill from past few weeks, the device is quite special for Honor as it is under works from past couple of years and also it is so far the best smartphone from Honor for this year. The Honor Note 10 not only has the premium hardware and design but also it is bringing new goodies like cooling pipe, Dolby Atmos audio setup and much more.
Being the latest premium smartphone the device is certainly capable to challenge the existing big players in the market. We always compare new smartphones with predecessors and competitors to know in detail about the device. We recently put the latest Honor Note 10 against the OnePlus 6, today we will compare it against the Apple's iPhone X and Huawei P20 Pro to know more how it will challenge the two best smartphones in the market.

Despite the fact the Honor Note 10 is latest best offering from the company, still, it is way cheaper than most of the premium smartphones in the market. In the design department, all three devices are top-notch however the finish is different. The Honor Note 10 followed the footsteps of Honor 10, it features a metal chassis with 3D glass covering the rear side. However, instead of opting a notch at the top of the display, it comes with the complete bezel. The front side has a full front-facing display with on-screen navigation buttons. On the rear side, the Honor Note has dual cameras on the top left corner. The fingerprint scanner is on the rear side in the center.
The Honor Note 10 has a special dedicated button on the right edge for Double Turbo mode. It features traditional 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C port for connectivity. The Honor Note 10 measurements are 177 x 85 x 7.65mm and weigh 230g. The device is available in Midnight Black and Phantom Blue colors.
The iPhone X features an aluminum chassis with glass covering the rear side. Like most of the latest smartphones it has a full front-facing display with thin bezels, however, the company opted a notch at the top of the display instead of the complete bezel. The iPhone X doesn't have a physical home button. On the rear side, the iPhone X has dual cameras on the top left corner. It lacks a fingerprint scanner instead the company brings Face ID(3D facial recognition) as the primary security feature.
Last but not the least the P20 Pro is the latest best smartphone from Huawei. The P20 Pro was the first P-series smartphone with glass and metal sandwich design. Following the Apple's footstep the P20 Pro does not have notch display but also it has triple rear cameras on the left corner. The P20 Pro front and rear glass are protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The P20 Pro dimensions are 155 x 73.9 x 7.8 mm and weigh 180 grams.
Despite having glass rear the Honor Note 10 and Huawei P20 Pro lacks wireless charging support, whereas iPhone X has wireless charging support. The P20 Pro and iPhone X are IP67 certified which provide water resistance up to 1 meters deep for 30 minutes whereas the Honor Note 10 isn't water and dust resistant. All the devices glass rear attracts fingerprints that's why you will have to take extra care to make sure it remains clear.
As far as display is a concern, all three devices have different size display panels. The Honor Note 10 is gigantic amongst all as it features a 6.95-inches AMOLED display panel with a Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. The display aspect ratio is 355 pixels-per-inch. The display is HDR 10 compatible and also it comes with 115% NTSC Color Gamut.
The iPhone X comes with a 5.8-inches AMOLED display with Full HD+ screen resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels. The display aspect ratio is 19:9. The display pixels density is 458 pixels-per-inch. It is also HDR 10 compatible and also supports Dolby Vision formats. Apple finally brings True Tone tech to smartphones as well with the iPhone X.
Huawei is certainly amongst those OEMs who are yet not convinced about bringing Quad HD+ resolution that's why even the latest P20 Pro has a Full HD+ display panel. The P20 Pro OLED display is of 6.1-inches with a Full HD+ screen of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The display aspect ratio is 18.7:9 and the pixels density is 408 pixels-per-inch.
Although all the devices have OLED display panels the iPhone X has an upper hand here due to additions from Apple like True Tone.
Being the latest best smartphone the Honor Note 10 is packed with the Kirin 970 SoC with the Turbo GPU. The standard variant has 6GB RAM with 64GB storage whereas the top-tier model has 8GB RAM with 128GB native storage. It supports memory expansion via MicroSD card.
The Honor Note 10 features Double Turbo mode which boosts the performance to the fullest. This mode is quite essential when playing HIFI games as well as during multi-tasking which requires huge resources. It is pretty much known when the device is pushed to the fullest, it has heating issues. Honor resolved this issue as well by bring "The Nine" cooling tech which uses octa-layer to dissipate heat. The company claims it reduces the heat up to 10C and overall device temp up to 41%.
The iPhone X is the Cupertino giant's latest best smartphone powered up by the A11 Bionic chipset with 3GB RAM. The base variant has 64GB storage whereas the top of the line model has 256GB storage. It lacks memory expansion support via MicroSD.
The P20 Pro was announced back in April, it is running on the Kirin 970 SoC. The Octa-core chipset is accompanied with 6GB RAM and 128GB native storage. Its storage isn't further expandable via MicroSD. In terms of performance the iPhone X is best amongst all, however, if you want an Android-running smartphone the Honor Note 10 is a better choice.

The iPhone X has an advantage of having the latest stock iOS 11 software whereas the P20 Pro and Honor Note 10 both have custom UI layers over the stock Android OS. The P20 Pro was announced with the Android Oreo 8.0 with EMUI 8.1 layer. Being the latest the Honor Note 10 is pre-installed with Android Oreo 8.1 with EMUI 8.2 layer. In terms of slickness, fast updates the iPhone X is a better choice.
However, if you want an Android running device both Honor Note 10 and P20 Pro are good options. Huawei was much criticized in past due to average custom software with tons of bloatware and stability issues, however, the company improved much with the latest iteration. Still, the EMUI isn't amongst the cleanest custom UI.
All three devices have top-notch cameras on the rear side. Huawei and Apple are amongst those companies who are paying special attention to improve the camera's capabilities of their devices. The iPhone X is packed with the so far best camera on the iPhone whereas the P20 Pro has currently the best cameras on any smartphone in the market.
The Honor Note 10 primary rear snapper is 24MP whereas the secondary module is 16MP. Both the sensor's aperture is f/1.8 which means you shouldn't expect the best-in-class photography in low-light conditions. Honor also uses AI 2.0 to enhance the cameras capturing capability. Up front the selfie camera is 13MP.
The iPhone X dual rear cameras are 12MP sensors. The primary camera aperture is f/1.8 whereas the secondary sensor aperture is f/2.4. Only the wide-angle lens has optical image stabilization. The secondary sensor provides optical zoom up to 2x. The dual rear cameras are accompanied with Quad LED flashlight. The front-facing camera is the 7MP sensor with the Truedepth feature.
The P20 Pro is currently leading the market with its triple Leica-certified cameras. The primary RGB sensor is 40MP with f/1.8 aperture, the secondary sensor is the monochrome lens of 20MP with f/1.6 aperture. The third module is 8MP zoom sensor which provides an optical zoom up to 3x without affecting the image quality. The P20 Pro not only take stunning photos in daylight but also in low-light conditions. The selfie camera on the P20 Pro is a 24MP sensor. All the devices support 4K video recording as well as portrait mode shots.
As far as battery cell is a concern, the Honor Note 10 takes lead with its gigantic cell. It's not surprising at all because the Honor Note 10 is a gaming-centric smartphone. The Honor Note 10 is powered up by a 5,000mAh battery cell which keeps its lights on for two days on a single charge. It supports the Huawei's Super fast charging tech.
The P20 Pro comes with a 4,000mAh battery cell, it is still relatively larger than most of the smartphones of its league. It also the Supercharge fast charging tech which quickly pops-up the battery life. Despite having glass rear both Honor Note 10 and P20 Pro doesn't support wireless charging.
The iPhone X has the slimmest battery amongst all. A 2,716mAh battery cell is on board to keep its running. It supports fast charging, however, it isn't shipped with fast charger straight out of the box instead you will have to spend extra amount to have fast charging feature. It also supports wireless charging but the charging pad comes as an extra accessory.
The price tag certainly plays an important role in the success or failure of the smartphones. Not all smartphones are for everyone instead there are plenty of options in each budget segment. As expected the Honor Note 10 is cheapest amongst all. The device is currently available in China only, however, we can expect it to go global in coming weeks. The Honor Note 10 base model with 64GB storage costs 2,799 Yuan in China, the 128GB model can be purchased at 3,199 Yuan. The top of the line model with 8GB RAM costs 3,599 Yuan.
The P20 Pro was announced at a price tag of £799 for the Uk customers. It was initially available for $850 in the US, now it can be grabbed below $800. The iPhone X base variant with 64GB storage announced at $999 in the US.
The Honor Note 10 is a gaming-centric phone with premium looks. It features the latest best hardware from Huawei, special cooling pipes to ensure device remains cool even on heavy usage, dual stereo speakers, and a gigantic battery cell. The iPhone X is the first smartphone with a notch at the top of the display, it went so successful that many OEMs followed the trend this year. In terms of performance, and cameras the iPhone X is still one of the best in the market. Last but not the least the P20 Pro is a powerhouse with the latest Kirin 970 SoC, it brings best in class cameras, large battery cell, the latest version of Android OS and stylish design.
