Being the budget-friendly smartphone the iPhone XR features aluminum chassis with glass covering the rear side.
Last year Apple introduced notch with the iPhone X, this year all the devices have a notch similar to the iPhone X. The inclusion of full front-facing display with a notch also marks the end of Touch ID. Now all the devices have Face ID as the primary security feature.
The base variant iPhone XR measurements are 150.9 x 75.7 x 8.3mm and weighs 194g. The iPhone XS Max measurements are 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7mm and weigh 208g. The smallest amongst all is iPhone XS, its dimensions are 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7mm and weigh 177g.
Thanks to glass rear all three devices support wireless charging. All the devices volume rocker is on the left edge whereas the dedicated Apple Pay button and the power button is on the right edge. On the bottom edge, you will get the mono speaker and Lightning connector.
As far as color variants are a concern, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available in Space Grey, Silver and Gold colors whereas the iPhone XR is available in a number of color options including blue, red, coral, black, yellow, white and palette. The iPhone XR is an IP67 certified device whereas the iPhone XS and XS Max are IP68 certified which means both the devices can resist up to 1.5 meters deep water for 30 minutes without any damage.
The iPhone XS is featuring a 5.8-inches display like the predecessor iPhone X. The iPhone XS Max is gigantic amongst all as it features 6.5-inches display. Both the devices have OLED display panels. As expected the iPhone XR sports a 6.1-inches LED display panel. All three have True Tone tech which means the display will adjust colors according to the environment.
Another good thing is all the displays supports P3 color gamut. Due to notch display, all the devices aspect ratio is 19.5:9. Just for the sake of reminding the aspect ratio is the same as the iPhone X. The iPhone XS screen resolution is 1125 x 2436 pixels and the pixels density is 458 pixels-per-inch. The iPhone XS Max screen resolution is 1242 x 2688 pixels and the pixels density remains 458ppi. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are sharpest amongst all.

Like always Apple didn't differentiate the iPhones on the basis of hardware that's why all have same SoC under the hood. All have the new A12 Bionic chipset built on the 7nm process. According to the company, the latest chipset is 15% faster than the predecessor. The new CPU and GPU is 50% more efficient than the last year's A11 Bionic chipset.
As expected the company didn't unveil the RAM of the iPhones. Last year the iPhone X has 3GB RAM, So we can expect its successor and the phablet variant will at least have the same RAM. The native storage of base variant of all the iPhones is 64GB whereas the iPhone XR's top of the line variants has 128GB and 256GB storage. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max top of the line models have 256GB and 512GB storage. At the moment only Galaxy Note 9 is amongst the premium smartphones available in the 512GB variant.
All the iPhones lack support for memory expansion via MicroSD. The best thing is new iPhones support eSIM. Like the predecessor, all the iPhones support wireless charging.

The dual rear cameras on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are aligned vertically on the top left corner whereas the iPhone XR single snapper is on the top left corner.

The iPhone XR features a single rear snapper which is same as the primary sensor of iPhone XS. It lacks the secondary telephoto sensor so you won't get optical zoom feature. The good thing is despite having single rear snapper the XR also support Portrait Mode and Smart HDR like the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
Apple introduces a new Portrait Lighting feature. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max feature five effects whereas the iPhone XR only have 3 effects. Up front the all the devices have 7MP new true depth sensor. The selfie snappers also double as Face ID and also it can record Full HD video at 60 frames per seconds.
As OS all the devices are pre-loaded with the iOS 12. Overall UI experience is same on all the devices no matter which smartphone you opt amongst the latest three. However, the company brought a few extra goodies with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
In the end, One of the key deciding aspects amongst the three will be the price tag. The iPhone XR base variant will be available at $749 in the US, £749 in the UK. The iPhone XS base variant starts at $999 (£999 in the UK). The best amongst all iPhone XS Max will cost $1,099 in the US (£1,099 in the UK).
Being the premium variants, the build quality of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max is better than the iPhone XR. However the only luxury is the iPhone XR brings same A12 chipset, similar 12MP primary rear snapper, and 7MP selfie camera. The iPhone XR is budget friendly and it is available in a number of color options.
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max take lead with an OLED display panel with 3D Touch. The stainless steel chassis makes it more premium than the entry-level LCD iPhone. If you opt the iPhone XS Max, you will get the largest display amongst all and most likely a larger battery cell. Overall the UI experience amongst all is same.
