Samsung’s highly anticipated phone with a foldable display may have finally got a name if we are to believe the new trademark registration which Samsung has filed. The South Korean company teased the phone a few days back at the SDC 2018 and announced that it will be launched in 2019, however, Samsung has held back important details like its specification, price and even the name of the device.
While Samsung calls the display type as Infinity flex, the phone itself didn’t have an identity of its own yet. It was initially named as Galaxy X, then Galaxy F and very recently Galaxy Flex, however, looks like the phone has finally got a new name.
Samsung has just filed a trademark for the name Galaxy Fold. The description in the application suggests that it may be used for a variety of products including smartphones. Though this could be either the name of the new series of the phone itself however, isn’t it more appropriate then Galaxy X or F?
In any case what we know of right now is that the phone will definitely see a global launch soon as Samsung has planned to make around 1 million devices which may be scaled up seeing the demand. The phone is also not going to be cheap by any sort of imaginations.
Whether the phone will be called Galaxy Fold or something else, we will only get to know closer to the launch date. Till then everything is a speculation which should be taken with the proverbial pinch of salt.
