30 January 2019 3

From the look of the things this year all OEMs will be in a race to announce 5G phones. All major OEMs showed interest in releasing premium phones with 5G capabilities. LG recently confirmed the arrival of the first 5G phone in February at the MWC 2019 event. However, as expected the company didn't reveal any other details regarding the upcoming flagship.

Today a new report from ETNews reveal few details regarding the upcoming LG 5G phone. The report mentions the device will be announced as LG V50 ThinQ 5G. Yes, what you read is one complete name of the upcoming 5G phone from LG. Certainly, it won't be an easy task to market a device with such a huge name. The device will go official in February with a release in March.

Initially, it will be released for the South Korean market at a price tag between $1165 and $1354. It will be the first LG flagship phone with a price tag above $1000. Later on, it will be released in the US as a Sprint exclusive phone. The report also confirmed its arrival for the European market but the exact time of release is still in the dark.

Traditionally the LG's V-lineup phones are a competitor of Samsung's Note lineup but since last year LG announced V-lineup phone in H1 2018. It seems like the same will be the case this year and the chances are high the G8 ThinQ will be the announced separately. The company isn't interested in starting a new lineup with 5G connectivity.

From what we know so far the V50 ThinQ 5G will be running on the Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855 chipset. A 4,000mAh battery is on board to keep its lights on. The company also confirmed it will feature a dedicated vapor chamber to ensure the device doesn't overheat even on heavy usage. We can expect more details regarding the V50 ThinQ 5G will appear online in the coming days. Stay tuned, we will keep you updated.
