Xiaomi last year announced a few devices under its Mi 8 series and one of the devices that caught maximum attention was the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. Apart from the flagship features that the special edition phone borrowed from the flagship Mi 8 phone, it came with a translucent back cover giving a sneak peek of the internals of the device, or so to say at least.
It looks like almost after 8 months of its launch, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition may make its way to overseas market. According to a report from XDA-Developers which states that one of the community developers has noticed codename and marketing name of an unreleased Xiaomi device. This new device goes with a codename “ursa_global” and marketing name “小米手机8透明探索版 国际版” which translates to "MI8ExplorerGlobal."
To recall, the Mi 8 EE was announced with a 6.21-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 2248 pixels, a Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 12 MP dual camera set up along with a 20MP front camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery pack along with dual GPS bands and NFC support as well.
While it is not known if the Mi 8 Explorer Edition will have the same hardware specifications or upgraded ones. Though it is unlikely that Xiaomi will bring in the aging device with new hardware instead may announce a new flagship phone featuring the latest hardware. That said, the Mi 8 EE already boasts powerful specifications and is no mean a device.
As of now it is not yet known as to when and where will the phone get launched also what will be the pricing of the global edition of Mi 8 Explorer Edition. Let us wait for more updates on this one.
