It looks like that the MWC this year is going to get more exciting, if it is not already, with the launch events hosted by leading brands like Nokia, LG, OPPO, Sony, Huawei, Moto and more. We also have the Samsung Galaxy S10 series launching right ahead of the tech conference.
The latest addition to the list is the Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus which has announced that it will be hosting an event at MWC this year. The invites that the company has shared state “Reimagine the future with OnePlus” and further reads “Join OnePlus at Ultramarinos where drinks and a taste of the future will be on us.”
While it’s not very clear what OnePlus plans to introduce at the MWC, there have been no leaks or rumors about any upcoming OnePlus phone, though we heard that the company is crowd-sourcing ideas for its OxygenOS. Since the company has just kick-started this campaign, it is unlikely that OnePlus will host an event just for this as that is just too so early.
While OnePlus was initially boasting to be the first one to launch a 5G phone, which the company later covered up by saying it plans to be among the first ones to do so. Its top executives had earlier announced that the 5G phone would be totally different from the current line of phones.
So the question remains, Is OnePlus really announcing something at MWC? Is it just networking meet up or Is there a budget OnePlus device in the making? since Google is also coming up with budget Pixel devices, OnePlus could very well be planning to revive the OnePlus X line.
