Nubia to launch a flexible display device at MWC 2019

12 February 2019 2

Foldable smartphones and devices are finally coming. At MWC this year it seems we will get to see more than a few devices with foldable displays. Samsung may launch its foldable phone just ahead of the MWC at the Unpacked event, Huawei has already announced that it will reveal its foldable 5G phone at MWC. Even Energizer may announce a phone with a foldable display at the MWC this year.

Now, ZTE led Nubia has announced that it will host an event on February 28, at MWC this year where it will launch a device with a flexible display. The invite from Nubia reads “Flex Your Life” along with an image that hints towards a foldable device.

Nubia had teased a foldable smartphone that can be worn on your wrist at IFA, Berlin last year. The Nubia Alpha was dubbed as “World’s Most Advanced Wearable Smartphone” by the company and comes with large curved OLED touch screen display which uses Flex, Nubia’s proprietary technology. In all probability, it is the same device that may be unveiled on a global stage at MWC this year.

ZTE previously had unveiled a device with dual displays connected via a hinge at the center, however, it was considered as dead on arrival because of the improper implementation of the displays and software issues.

With Nubia Alpha, the company has raised the expectations and it would be very interesting to see what the company comes out with this time. We are excited here. Are you?
