Finally after tons of leaks and rumors, HMD Global wraps off the cover from the much-anticipated flagship Nokia 9 PureView. The device was in leaks and rumors from almost six months. Initially, it was expected in the last quarter of 2018. It was on the cards at the December launch event but the company pulls off the launch due to Penta cameras software issue. Despite being the latest flagships the Nokia 9 PureView is packed with last year's hardware, however, the best aspect of the device is five cameras setup on the rear side.
Apart from Penta cameras setup on the rear side, the Nokia 9 PureView is running on the stock version of Android OS. Above all the device is significantly cheaper than most of the latest flagships. When someone is looking for a cheaper flagship phone, for sure they will consider OnePlus 6T as well. The 6T is currently one of the best budget-friendly options in the market. The Nokia 9 PureView will have to face stiff competition from OnePlus 6T to be the best affordable flagship phone.

Unlike the latest flagships in the market, the Nokia 9 PureView doesn't have the bezel-less design. HMD opted thick bezels at the top and bottom of the display. The top bezel has Nokia branding, selfie camera, earpiece, and other sensors. The bottom bezel is relatively clean but still significantly thicker than traditional phones in the market. The chassis is made up of aluminum with glass covering the front and rear side. The rear glass is gently curved so that the device can be grabbed easily.
The rear side is adorned with five cameras, ToF sensor and LED flashlight. The bottom rear has Android One branding. Like most of the latest phones, it comes with an under-glass fingerprint scanner. On the other hand, OnePlus 6T is way more stylish. It comes with a full front-facing display with a waterdrop notch at the top of the display. The bottom bezel is quite slimmer. The edge-to-edge display on the OnePlus 6T looks quite stunning. The 6T has aluminum chassis with glass covering the rear side. The rear side has dual cameras aligned vertically in the center with LED flashlight below it. It also has an under-glass fingerprint scanner.
The Nokia 9 PureView comes with IP67 certification which means it can resist under 1-meter deep water for 30 minutes without any damage. The 6T doesn't have any IP-ratings but it can resist water splash thanks to a special coating.
The Nokia 9 PureView dimensions are 155 × 75 × 8 mm and weigh 172g. The 6T is slightly taller, wider and heavier at 157.5 × 74.8 × 8.2 mm and weighs 185g. In terms of color options, the Nokia 9 PureView can be grabbed in Midnight Blue color whereas the 6T can be purchased in Midnight Black, Mirror Black, and Thunder Purple. Overall the OnePlus 6T is more stylish and striking than the Nokia 9 PureView.
The Nokia 9 PureView is featuring a 5.99-inches OLED display with Quad HD+ screen resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels. The display aspect ratio is 2:1 and the pixels density is 538 pixels-per-inch. Thanks to the better aspect ratio the OnePlus 6T sports a 6.41-inches display with Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display pixels density is 402 pixels-per-inch.
Both the phones have OLED display panel, So you don't have to worry about deep black, colors saturation and accuracy. If you don't have an issue with the thick bezels the Nokia 9 PureView is the winner here due to higher pixels density. On the basis of looks, the 6T takes to lead.
Under the hood, both the phones are packed with the 2018's hardware. It is understandable for the OnePlus 6T as it was announced in 2018 whereas the Nokia 9 PureView is the latest flagship offering from HMD Global. Although the latest flagships are packed with the latest hardware but still both the aforementioned phones have enough power to be amongst the fast phones in the market.
The Nokia 9 PureView is running on the Qualcomm's Octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset with 6GB RAM. The 6T is also running on the Snapdragon 845 chipset. However, it is available in two configurations with either 6GB or 8GB RAM. In terms of native storage, the Nokia 9 PureView can be grabbed in 128GB variant only whereas the 6T is available in 128GB and 256GB models. Unfortunately both the phones lack support memory expansion via MicroSD.
If you are looking for the latest best in the hardware, you may disappoint. However, both have still enough power to handle anything you throw at it. The 6T has added the advantage of more RAM and storage option as opposed to Nokia 9 PureView.

The Nokia 9 PureView lights are kept on by a 3,320mAh battery whereas the 6T is powered up by a 3,700mAH battery. Both the phones support fast charging, the Nokia 9 PureView comes with Quick Charge 3.0 whereas the OnePlus 6T rely on the company's proprietary "Dash Charge".
Thanks to the glass rear the Nokia 9 PureView support Qi Wireless charging but that's not the case with the 6T. Although the Nokia 9 PureView features a smaller display it comes with the significantly smaller battery cell. The 6T comes with a larger battery cell but lacks support for wireless charging.
One of the keys and the prominent difference between the two flagships is in the cameras department. The Nokia 9 PureView has five rear cameras, there are three 12MP monochrome sensors with f/1.8 aperture and dual 12MP RGB modules with f/1.8 aperture. All the sensors are ZEISS certified lens. The best aspect is all cameras join hands to produce the final results. The five sensors jointly capture 10x more light which results in brighter shots in both low-light and stable light conditions.
The simultaneously capturing capability of Nokia 9 PureView makes it a superior camera phone which utilizes the light much better than ordinary phones in the market. On the other hand, the OnePlus 6T comes with dual snappers on the rear side. Both are a color lens, the primary sensor is 16MP with f/1.7 aperture whereas the secondary sensor is 20MP with f/1.7 aperture. Both the sensors allow the user to capture portrait shots with bokeh effects.
The Nokia 9 PureView can capture Quad HD shot at 30 frames per second. The 6T cameras allow Quad HD video capturing at 60fps, you can capture HD shot at 480fps. The 6T results are pretty good in stable lighting condition but it lags behind in low-light scenarios. The Nokia 9 PureView captures well in almost all sorts of scenarios. Up front, the Nokia 9 PureView comes with 20MP snapper whereas the 6T has a 16MP sensor.
Being an Android One phone the Nokia 9 PureView is pre-installed with a stock version of Android OS, So you don't have to worry about bloatware. It will also receive new major updates much quicker than other phones running on a custom skin. The OnePlus 6T is also pre-installed with Android Pie with Oxygen OS 9.0.3 skin over it.
There are few extra software goodies with the OnePlus custom UI, it comes with dedicated Gaming Mode in which the device utilizes the power to the fullest, maximizes the brightness level and blocks the notifications while playing games. Being an Android One phone the Nokia 9 PureView has an advantage of new receiving new updates quicker and for a longer period of time.
The OnePlus 6T is a budget-friendly flagship phone that's where there aren't many out of the box features. One of the special features of OnePlus 6T is the "gaming mode" which can be customized according to your preference. It is quite handy if you want to utilize the phone to the fullest. The Nokia 9 PureView key selling aspect is Penta cameras setup. HMD brought special customized camera app so that the five cameras can be utilized simultaneously.
Despite having solid hardware specs both the phones are not as expensive as the latest premium flagships in the market. The Nokia 9 PureView can be grabbed at $700. However, it won't be widely available instead the company is selling it like a "limited edition" phone.
