Xiaomi has officially confirmed that it is working on a flagship Redmi smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC in the tow. The phone has been making its presence felt ever since then. The one of its kind phones is said to feature flagship grade hardware like the Snapdragon 855 SoC and is rumored to come with a pop-up selfie camera. While a few days back Redmi’s CEO Lu Weibing denied the rumour that the phone may not have a pop-up camera, the phone has been again officially teased by another Xiaomi executive.
This time it is Dr. Wang Teng Thomas who has shared an image on Weibo which has Xiaomi’s co-founder Lin Bin with a mysterious phone placed next to him. The post was taken down; however, it did show an unreleased Redmi phone on the table, lying next to Lin Bin.
On a closer inspection, the phone looks like its housing a pop-up selfie camera and a 3.5mm audio jack. The presence of a pop-up camera suggests a notch less display which will please the purists. While Xiaomi has been teasing about this upcoming device since some time, it is said to be unveiled sometime next month.
Rumours also suggest that the phone may be released globally as Poco F2. Though the company is said to be working on a couple of devices at the same time. Another leaked image suggests a presence of a device with triple rear camera setup, a punch hole camera and an in-display finger print sensor. Since, these specifications are contradictory, it could mean that these are two different devices we’re looking at.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi India has announced that it is going to launch a selfie centric Redmi Y3 around the end of this month. The Redmi Y3 is said to come with a 32MP selfie snapper and a waterdrop notch at the top.
