Finally after tons of leaks and rumors the Huawei's subsidiary Honor wraps off the cover from the much-awaited Honor 20 series in the UK. As expected the company launched two new premium phones including Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro. Both the new Honor phones are announced almost one week after the OnePlus 7 lineup.
The Honor 20 Pro is one of the most stylish phone ever announced by Honor. Apart from the stylish design, it is packed with premium hardware and top-notch quad rear cameras. Despite bringing all these goodies the Honor 20 Pro is one of the cheapest flagship phones. On the other hand, the flagships killer manufacturer OnePlus launched two premium OnePlus 7 phones last week including OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

Both Honor and OnePlus premium phones are known for the great value for the money and fortunately, the Honor 20 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro is no exception. The OnePlus 7 Pro brings a number of incredible features, superb cameras, latest Android OS and much more. Those who are looking for an affordable flagship Pro phone will certainly consider the latest Honor 20 Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro.
Today we will put the latest Honor 20 Pro in a head-to-head confrontation against the flagships killer OnePlus 7 Pro to know in detail the real differences and similarities between the two phones. Without any further ado, let's start with the design.

Like most of the latest phones, both the devices have aluminum chassis with glass covering the front and rear side. The premium finish on both the phones is pretty good. The Honor 20 Pro has full front-facing with a thin punch-hole at the top left corner. The thin earpiece is at the top bezel and the only prominent bezel is at the bottom.
The Honor 20 Pro rear side is adorned with quad cameras setup aligned vertically at the top left corner. Unlike the traditional fingerprint, it comes with a side mounted fingerprint scanner embedded under a physical button.
The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a radically different design as opposed to the predecessor. On the front-facing side, you will get full view uninterrupted display without any notch or punch-hole. It is the company's first phone with pop-up selfie snapper. It features an under-glass optical fingerprint scanner. It comes with triple cameras on the rear side aligned vertically in the center with LED flashlight right below it.
Both the phones are competing to provide better screen-to-body ratio. The Honor 20 Pro screen-to-body ratio is 91.7% whereas the OnePlus 7 Pro is slightly behind at 88.6%. The Honor 20 Pro dimensions are 154.6 x 73.9 x 8.4mm and weigh 182g whereas the OnePlus 7 Pro is significantly taller, wider and thicker at 162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8mm and weighs 206g. Both the phones lack the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack instead comes with USB-C dongle for headphones. Both phones lack IP-rating.
In terms of display, the Honor 20 Pro is featuring a 6.26-inches IPS LCD display with Full HD+ screen resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The display pixels density is 412 pixels-per-inch and the aspect ratio is 19.5:9. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro features 6.67-inches fluid AMOLED display with Quad HD+ screen resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. The display pixels density is 516 pixels-per-inch.
Apart from having better display panel and screen resolution the OnePlus 7 Pro display refresh rate is 90Hz whereas the Honor 20 Pro display refresh rate is 60Hz. The OnePlus 7 Pro display is super smooth and experience is quite ultimate. Overall the OnePlus 7 Pro is way ahead than Honor 20 Pro in the display department.
A few years ago the flagship level hardware was exclusive for the premium phones only but in last few years OnePlus, Honor brought premium-level hardware at a fraction of price tag. The good thing is you don't need to spend a fortune to have the latest flagship phone.
Honor rely on the Huawei's Kirin chipsets whereas the OnePlus 7 Pro has the Qualcomm's latest best chipset. The OnePlus 7 Pro is running on the Qualcomm's Octa-core Snapdragon 855 SoC whereas the Honor 20 Pro is powered up by the Kirin 980 SoC.
The Honor 20 Pro is available in one configuration only with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro is available in three variants. The base model has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage whereas the top-tier models have either 8GB or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. Both the phones lack support for memory expansion via MicroSD.

Both the phones light are kept on by a 4,000mAh battery cell. The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with 30W Warp charging tech whereas the Honor 20 Pro is shipped with 22.5W fast charging tech. Despite having glass rear both the phones lack support for wireless charging. Considering the display size and screen resolution the Honor 20 Pro will have a minor advantage. Overall both the phones have enough juice to last one day on a single charge.
Both phones have a number of sensors on the rear side. The OnePlus 7 Pro is adorned with triple rear cameras whereas the Honor 20 Pro has quad rear cameras. The OnePlus 7 Pro primary sensor on the rear is a 48MP module with f/1.6 aperture. The secondary snapper is an ultra wide-angle 16MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The ultra wide-angle sensor field of view is 117 degrees.
The third snapper on the rear is an 8MP telephoto module with f/2.2 aperture and optical zoom up to 3x. The primary and telephoto module has an optical image stabilization. It also supports 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. The front-facing pop-up selfie snapper is a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture.
The Honor 20 Pro primary snapper is 48MP with f/1.4 aperture. The secondary snapper is ultra-wide angle 16MP with f/2.2 aperture. The third snapper on the rear is an 8MP telephoto module with f/2.4 aperture and optical zoom up to 3x. The device brings hybrid zoom up to 5x and digital zoom up to 30x. The telephoto sensor has laser autofocus and optical image stabilization. Last but not least the fourth sensor is a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The selfie snapper is 32MP with f/2.0 aperture.
The DxoMark ratings give a pretty good idea regarding what to expect from phones in terms of camera prowess. Both the phones received 111 scores which makes them the second best in the market after Huawei P30 Pro. Although both the sensors are quite solid the larger aperture makes the Honor 20 Pro a better option in low-light conditions.
Although the hardware is one of the key highlights of the premium phones the latest software and customization also plays a vital role. The Honor 20 Pro is running on the Magic UI 2.0 skin based on the Android Pie. The Magic UI brings tons of customization features that's why it isn't as slick as the vanilla version of Android OS.
On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro is running on the Oxygen OS based on the Android 9.0. The custom UI is ultra-thin over the stock version of Android OS. So if you want more customized UI the Honor 20 Pro is a better option, the OnePlus 7 Pro is close to the stock version of Android OS.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is one of the most expensive phone ever announced by OnePlus. The Honor 20 Pro will be available in Phantom Black and Phantom Blue colors at a price tag of 599 Euros in Europe. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro base model cost 709 Euros in Europe. For the US market, the OnePlus 7 Pro base model starts at $669. The 8GB RAM model is slightly expensive at $699. The top of the line model with 12GB RAM is expensive amongst all at $749.
There is a number of aspects of both these phones which will certainly attract buyers. The OnePlus 7 Pro takes lead in display, design, and hardware section. The Honor 20 Pro takes lead in the camera, and pricing section. As far as the software is a concern it is up to customers whether they prefer the custom UI of Honor 20 Pro or near stock Android experience of OnePlus 7 Pro.
Last but not least the US trade sanctions on Huawei will have an impact on its sub-brand Honor as well. Although the US had given 90 days reprieve from the blacklist the situation is uncertain for Honor at the moment.
